Iron absorption directly depends on careful selection of foods and high-quality selection of medications containing this element. For anemia, the daily intake is 100 mg per day to begin replenishing the iron depot. Absorption from food ranges from 1.5 to 20 mg per day, which is significantly lower than the daily norm.

To improve the absorption of iron, it is important to consume iron-containing foods together with foods rich in copper (buckwheat, oatmeal, figs) and ascorbic acid (bell pepper, rose hips, black currants). You should not drink iron-containing dishes with milk or tea, as iron absorption is immediately reduced by 2 times. It is useful to wash down such dishes with vegetable and fruit juices containing ascorbic acid, copper and organic acids, thereby improving the absorption of iron.

Basic rules of nutrition for anemia

  1. Frequent, split meals, at least 5 meals.
  2. The high content of proteins, mainly of animal origin, contributes to a high percentage of iron absorption by the body.
  3. Each meal should contain one iron-containing product.
  4. Limit the consumption of saturated fats (cakes and pastries with butter creams, fatty meats and lard, lamb fat).
  5. Replenishment of carbohydrates through: wholemeal rye bread, nuts, berries (black currants, rose hips, raspberries, gooseberries, strawberries), vegetables (tomatoes, carrots, beets, cabbage, radishes, pumpkin), fruits (lemons, pomegranates, cherries, apricots ), cereals (buckwheat and oatmeal), legumes (peas, beans, corn).
  6. Drink water at the rate of 30 ml per kg/body weight.

It should be noted that our body best absorbs iron obtained from meat (on average 20% is absorbed), slightly worse - from fish and seafood (about 11%), legumes (7%) and nuts (6%). Only 1-3% of iron is absorbed from vegetables, fruits and cereals.

To improve the absorption of iron, it is also important to receive the right amounts of vitamins and minerals, which play the role of catalysts and help this element to be absorbed.

An example of a balanced diet for a day:

Breakfast. 2 eggs or omelet, a slice of rye bread with butter and cheese, fresh cabbage salad, fruit juice.

Lunch. Cottage cheese 5% with dried apricots, figs or nuts, oatmeal with dried fruits, berry broth (rose hips, raspberries, strawberries).

Dinner. Chicken soup, stewed liver or boiled pork from beef and vegetables, dried fruit compote.

Afternoon snack. Apricot, peach or pomegranate.

Dinner. Mackerel baked in foil or steamed beef cutlets, stewed carrots and onions, herbal tea.

A glass of kefir or yogurt an hour before bedtime.

The above menu is rich in iron, vitamin C, copper, contains a sufficient amount of fiber and will not harm your figure at all.

What is hematogen

Hematogen is produced using the blood of cattle, and it contains a huge amount of Fe (iron). In addition to iron, the composition includes a significant amount of proteins, carbohydrates and fats in equal proportions.

Iron is easily absorbed in the human body, and the auxiliary components help cope with the depletion of muscle tissue.

The drug belongs to the group of microelements and macroelements, and is largely a dietary supplement. But it’s better not to eat it instead of chocolate. Moreover, you should not take it during pregnancy without a gynecologist’s prescription.
